A Celebration of Collective Liberation
Saturday, September 12, 2026
12 PM – 6 PM
Garfield Park - Grand Rapids, Michigan
Liberation Saturday is an annual community gathering celebrating Black culture, creativity, wellness, joy, and collective power.
What began as a gathering in 2022 as a project by Free Alchemy Studio has grown into a vibrant cultural micro festival that brings together artists, makers, growers, musicians, organizers, educators, healers, and community members for a day rooted in connection and possibility.
Now entering its fifth edition, Liberation Saturday continues to create space for people to gather, learn, share resources, support local businesses, and imagine a more liberated future together.
Free and open to the public.

why liberation saturday?
Liberation Saturday exists because communities deserve to thrive.
We deserve spaces to gather. Spaces to celebrate. Spaces to share joy. Spaces to exchange ideas, resources, stories, and skills.
We believe culture is infrastructure. We believe creativity is a tool for transformation. We believe community care is essential work.
Liberation Saturday is an invitation to participate in building the world we want to live in: one rooted in dignity, creativity, abundance, and collective responsibility + imagination.
